At about that time, Hitachi made a Saturn system that was not 100% compatible with SEGAīs and the game did not run correctly on it. The producers were asked to make the changes which would allow it to run on the "HI-Saturn" - but did not do this work because the project was stopped as the publisher did not believe the Saturn was going to make it. The Saturn version of "Return Fire" was therefore never manufactured on protected CDs and therefore never released. But the webmaster of www.sega-saturn.net made it his business to re-release this wonderful game and therefore contacted the developers of Return Fire, was given the permission and made some work on the unfinished version that it finally runs on our beloved SEGA Saturn and packaged it in homemade covers, manuals and CD prints. In the beginning of 2003 i did a reasearch on unreleased Saturn games. Amongst others i found this game uncleared if it was released or not. Some said they have played it on their Saturn, some said this is impossible. To get a nearly perfect software list for my site i started to contact the producer Prolific, who proofed me, that the game was never released for the SEGA Saturn, as the statement above shows. After many more emails they sent me a copy from their cellar. First the game was not running, but with the help of a friend called printf it worked finally.First I dreamed of a real game with real packaging, professionally printed covers, manual, etc. at cost price, but Iīm still waiting for a permission by Prolific for that real and professionally produced ' version. And to this day they are not finished. I tried it many times (amongst others with a Petition), but now i think itīs time to give this more than 10year old game to the fans for their loving system as download at least. Thanks to: James J. Host (Lead Programmer Saturn version) and Reichart Kurt von Wolfsheild (Creator/Designer/Producer) (both Prolific) The Saturn Programmers known as printf and antime for helping me to get the game running.
